My Natural Product Finds for October
Here are my October natural product finds, almost all Irish again, as I really do want to support local small shops during this uncertain time.
With the weather getting colder, I was delighted to find this wonderful Hand Cream from Kinvara Skincare, based in Galway. I have been an avid supporter of Kinvara product since they launched in 2012. There are no nasties in their skincare range, and they all smell delicious . This hand cream has an unusual blend of watermelon seed and safflower seed oil, which I had not come across before. It also contains a blend of plant oils, which really nourishes and hydrates the skin but leaves no greasy residue. It smells divine, with lemon scented teatree oil. Vitamin E is also an added ingredient, so this makes a lot of sense for a winter hand cream. Perfect for use on the go, as it is not waxy and is very absorbant. While you are there check out their fab skincare sets, and you get 15% off your first order if you sign up to their newsletter.
Dr. Bronner’s Castille Soap
I had never used this environmentally friendly brand before and was so impressed with the multiple uses for many products in their range. The Castille soap smells insane, Hemp Peppermint, and it really wakes the senses, in fact it also makes your skin actually tingle. The ingredients are very gentle, containing no nasties, coconut, hemp and jojoba oil, so it does not dry out the skin. HealthyBuzz, an online healthstore based from Malahide has a massive, MASSIVE range of Dr Bronner, and Ruth usually adds their samples to orders, which I love. If you are not in Ireland, you can find Dr Bronner worldwide here and here.
I love Holo’s body oils, but especially this Baby Oil, which you can use in the Bath or as a baby massage oil. I usually use this in a bedtime bath for my little boys, with a small baby massage focusing on their feet after a long busy day of play!
The oil is so simple, with no nasties, so it contains sweet almond oil as a base, with Chamomile and Lavender essential oils which are the safest for the babies from birth.
Anytime I use this in the boys bath they fall asleep instantly, so this October that has been such a support with the uncertainty around them of lock down, other peoples anxiety germs, washing hands etc. I really am grateful when they get a good sleep to recoup from the craziness outside them. Children absorb everything like sponges so being able to warm them with a bath, a massage and a cuddle is essential to me as a mother.
You can find Holos products here and Niamh, the mastermind behind this Irish brand also has a range of samples to buy, which I just love, as they come in so handy for the handbag or even for a little break away- I find it annoying carrying a big bottle of my usual moisturiser, so love that she has samples to buy, just perfect for travel.
Naturally at the Wren’s Nest – Naturally Fresh Deoderant
I was so happy when I came across this amazing handcrafted Irish Brand this autumn. Danielle creates all her products by hand, and usually from her garden or from a good old forage in her local woods in Co. Laois. I was on the hunt for a new natural deodorant and a friend highly recommended this, and she wanted me to say that this was recommended by a sweaty betty. I can confirm that this deodorant really does work well. If you have never used natural deodorant before, you may have smell only a little for the first day, while your body gets used to natural deodorant. The idea behind natural deodorant is to allow the body release its toxins and not mask or clog them from leaving the skin with silicone based or worse alluminium based brands. Give this a go, if you always wanted to try one. I chose the geranium and neroli deodorant and just loved its smell. In fact I cant wait to try out her 2 other deodorants now. Check out Danielle’s soaps which are so divine, as they are cold pressed. You can find Danielle’s amazing product range here.
Well that’s it for October, if you enjoyed it, take a look back over my other finds throughout 2020 here. Take care of yourselves and see you in November for more natural skincare finds!
